Karel Reisz Ten filmovy život

If you find yourself in Ostrava, Czech Republic, next Monday 24 September, you could see the premiere of the new documentary: Karel Reisz, Ten filmovy život (This filming life)

Karel Reisz was one of the key figures of British Free Cinema, working with Lindsay Anderson and Tony Richardson amongst others. Famous for directing Saturday Night Sunday Morning and producing Anderson’s This Sporting Life, he went on to direct The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Karel was born in Ostrava (hence the premiere location).

I’m hoping the film is part of the reclamation of the Czech and Slovak contribution to world cinema after the second world war. Find out more here, google translate helps just enough if you need it!
